Bug Häus

The Bug Häus aims to create a research centre to understand and harness the potential of insects as natural pest control and key components of the local ecosystem.  The Bug Häus sees Plymouth’s privileged location and local ecosystem as an opportunity to become a leading insect-friendly city in the UK. Furthermore, located on a site currently occupied by a car park, this project appropriates part of it to celebrate it as a key part of Plymouth's built heritage, whilst also highlighting the victory that this would represent on the struggle against climate change. The project presents three main approaches to the past through the reappropriation of the car park: decay, repurpose, reuse.
